Young Canadian Leadership Challenge Registration Page
Welcome to REGISTRATION....
ONLINE or BY MAIL
We highly prefer your REGISTERING online, because that way we can communicate
with you easily by e-mail. We will need to communicate with you - about things to bring, time
to show up, places where you can get a ride, and the like. But if you do not have an e-mail
account at home where we can reach you, we do have an alternative way to REGISTER you.
if you are an adult or youth REGISTERING and do NOT have e-mail
at home. Send your REGISTRATION by regular mail to REGISTRATION at
the address on the form. You will receive notification of details by regular mail.
YOUTH
If you are REGISTERING online, you will need to know which of 3 categories you fall into...
1.) If you are a youth from 10-17, you need a parent or guardian to REGISTER for you, as you
will require their signed permission to attend. Your parent should know details about the program
before signing you up, so we have prepared a quick tour for their viewing. Have your parent
or guardian CLICK HERE to take this information tour. You may, of course, watch it with them.

if you are the parent of a 10-17 year old, REGISTERING a youth. When you
REGISTER HERE, you are stating you are doing so, aware of the information
provided by the tour - and that you find the program is suitable for this youth.
2.) If you are a youth from 18-19, you do not need a parent or guardian to REGISTER for you,
as you are allowed to sign on yourself. You do not need to take the TOUR, but we advise you to
anyway, so that you are fully informed of the details provided by the TOUR.
if you are an 18-19 year old, REGISTERING yourself. When you REGISTER
HERE, you are stating you are doing so, sufficiently aware of the details of the
program, and that your decision to attend represents a commitment to attend.
3.) If you are a youth who has attended a previous YCLC, you may or may not need a parent or
guardian to REGISTER for you, depending on your age. You do not need to take the TOUR, as
you already know the details of the program. You should know that you will not be a part of the
group attending for the first time, and that any challenge events you take on will be both harder
than those you participated in during your first event, and that more will be expected of you.
if you are a 10-19 year old, REGISTERING to attend a second level program.
When you REGISTER HERE, you are stating you are doing so with the
full intention to attend and to participate fully.
ADULTS
If you are REGISTERING online, you will need to know which of 2 categories you fall into...
If you are an adult, you must decide whether to attend as an Adult Mentor or as an Adult
Volunteer. In general 28 adult Mentors are needed for each program along with 12-16
Adult Volunteers. Once one of the categories fills up, you may not have a choice. You must be 21
years of age to be an Adult Volunteer or Mentor - or you must have attended two previous YCLC events.
An Adult Mentor will interface directly with the youth, and will need to attend one day early
(Thursday evening) to be trained. If you have a youth attending the same program, the youth
will need transportation separate from you on the day of the event. You will receive a special
"resiliency" training to prepare you for the event - a training which would cost you $1,000 if
purchased yourself.
An Adult Volunteer will not, generally, have a direct interface with the youth. He or she will work
as a support service volunteer, providing rides, working in the kitchen, setting up events. You will
see the major events You will receive a shorter version of the training once you arrive - on the day
of the event.
to learn what you will be asked to do as an adult during and before a YCLC
weekend. When you REGISTER, you register only for the weekend itself. Any other time you
choose to put in is entirely optional. It's good to do this before signing on.
if you are an adult wanting to REGISTER as an ADULT MENTOR. Your registration
makes you eligible for later training to be a FACILITATOR of the program - should you
choose to do so. FACILITATORS, once CERTFIED, are eligible to be paid for services.
-or-
if you are an adult wanting to REGISTER as an ADULT VOLUNTEER. You will be
eligible to come to the event free - but are encouraged to pay your expenses. Your registration
does not make you automatically eligible for later training to be a FACILITATOR of the
program, but under exceptional circumstances you may become eligible.
CURRENT PROGRAM INFORMATION is e-mailed to all participants as it becomes available.
This is why we have asked to have an e-mail address where we can reach you. Many details
(e.g. places rides will be available exact arrival and program end times) are not firmed up
until two weeks before the program. Details which are currently known appear HERE.
