COST TO PARTICIPANTS PAGE This page explains the fee structure. |

Each Young Canadian Leadership Challenge is operated independently by a group in the community in which it is held. This group sets the fee, based on available donations, funds on hand and actual costs. If donations and volunteer hours were not a part of the way in which funds were raised, the actual cost would be $750 per youth. Sponsoring organizations solicit the donation of a location, food, transportation and the cost of Facilitators. For our prototype presentations, the fee varied from zero to $150, and was shared by volunteers as well as youth participants. Volunteers receive are trained to run a YCLC in return for their fee. We never turn away a participant - either youth or volunteer on the basis of being able to pay the fee. The fees collected are a small portion of the actual cost. We welcome donations, as every dollar is helpful in defraying the cost of participants who are unable to pay. As participants come from a wide range of economic circumstances, about one third of all participants would not be able to attend without the generosity of the community from which they come.
